You’ve established clarity on what your vision is.
You know what it takes to be consistent in your behaviour.
And you have made a commitment to taking the necessary steps needed to achieve your goals.
It’s time to take ACTION!
We can create the perfect plan, (with all of the right intentions) but if we fail to take action, then we are back at square one. Like anything in life, if we fail to take action, then the careful planning and goal setting is a waste of time.
So, what stops us?
For some people, actually starting is the hard part. Once they have kicked themselves into gear, they can finish the race with glowing recommendations. But to start…now that is a different story. Procrastination is their middle name, and it takes a massive shift in planning to launch themselves towards their goal. Maybe you can’t start the diet because it’s not Monday, or perhaps you will begin to work on the business once this busy period is over…It’s excuse after excuse as to why you can’t start RIGHT NOW!
For others, they start their new project with enthusiasm and gust, only to dwindle out to nothing. Eventually, they forget to even finish what they have begun. Life gets in the way, excuses creep in, and they slip back into old habits before they even realise what’s going on. They put the dreams on the back burner and forget to revisit them, even if they have the time to do so.
With both groups of people, one of the biggest challenges is actually understanding WHY you can’t take action. Do you find yourself wondering, can you actually do it? Deep down, do you WANT to do it? Or do you feel as though you are ticking a box?
When we feel like this, it usually means we’ve missed a step along the way.
Perhaps we’ve glided over the commitment part of goal setting, not truly diving into how much time or energy we have for our new goals.
Do you truly understand why you want to achieve this goal?
Or were you caught up in the excitement of how it sounds to other people?
Get your day off to a great start by doing the most important thing.
Revisit the Three C’s Clarity, Consistency and Commitment to see why you aren’t taking the action needed to move forward.
Instead of focusing on why you can’t achieve something, look at why you are feeling this way.
Make a list of your achievements and all of the times you have accomplished something.
Use this list to remind yourself of what happens when you decide to take action.
Remind yourself that you are capable, you are strong and you do have the skills you need to achieve your vision.
Every time doubt starts to creep in, or we find procrastination knocking on our doors, there is usually something we have missed in our goal setting.
It could be the commitment, the clarity or forgetting that we need to be consistent.
Either way, our goals won’t be achieved if we forget to act on them whether it’s to get started or cross the finish line.
