How many of you find it easy to set goals, but hard to execute them?

You are not alone!

Research suggests that only 8% of the population actually achieve their goals each year.
Where does that leave the remaining 92% of us?

What do the 8% do differently that helps them achieve their dreams?

I have the missing piece of the puzzle.

Goal achievers set a clear roadmap to success by implementing S.M.A.R.T goals and taking ACTION towards their vision!

S.M.A.R.T goal setting is one of the most valuable assets to any high achiever today. It helps them to achieve their goals with a strategy. Without a plan, your goals are left without direction or purpose. S.M.A.R.T goal setting brings structure and trackability into the picture. It allows you to set clear milestones that break down how attainable your goals are.

Now, most of us can SET goals…but do you know how to take ACTION to achieve them?

“The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score.”

Accomplishments, like building the first car or releasing the first iPhone, all started from a vision. The goals were set, actions were taken, and their vision was seen through to the end. S.M.A.R.T goals will help you to actualise your dreams and see through your goal to fruition.

So, what does S.M.A.R.T stand for?

Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-based.

Specific:
Every goal NEEDS to be specific. The more specific you are, the bigger the chance you will achieve your goal.

Here are some questions to consider when setting your goals:
What exactly do you want to achieve?
How?
Where?
When?
With whom?
What hurdles may I face?
What does this goal look like when I have achieved it?
Why do I REALLY want this goal?
Once you have answered these questions, write your specific goal down! Congratulations- you have taken the first step towards achieving your goals.

Measurable:

When you set your measurable goals, consider what you will hear, feel, see and think when you reach your goal.

What evidence will there be when you attain your goal?

Being happier when you achieve your goal is not evidence, however, trying a new sport because you adhere to a healthier lifestyle of exercise and healthy foods, is. Measurable goals allow you to refine your goal so that you truly understand what it means to have achieved it.

Attainable:
Now, this is a BIG question to ask yourself. Is your goal attainable? While the idea of being a billionaire in thirty days sounds wonderful, the likelihood of us ever attaining that is very slim. You need to consider your own circumstances and how likely it will be that you will take the necessary action to achieve your objectives.

How much time do you have?

Will your goals cost money?

Do you need to have a specific talent to achieve your goal?

Once you have established whether your goal is attainable, you will have a clearer vision of how to get there. There’s nothing wrong with shooting for the stars, just make sure you have the rocket to get there!

Relevant:
Do you REALLY want this goal? Is your goal relevant to you? It’s easy to say that we would love to be millionaires with ten businesses and celebrity status. Decide what you truly want and what would suit your own lifestyle.

The primary objective is to find out WHY you want to reach your goal. What is the underlying motivation behind your goal? Perhaps you want to be a millionaire, but the true motivator is that you want to feel financially secure.

It’s also important to understand whether your goal is going to achieve what you TRULY want. You may feel as though buying another business will make you more money, but will it really?
Time-based.
Your goals need to have a time frame placed upon them. If you don’t know when you are going to be able to achieve your goal, then you don’t truly understand what is required of you to achieve it. Set deadlines and mini-goals that help drive you to the bigger objective. Will you need five months or five years? Be realistic and flexible with your time frames but also hold yourself accountable.

S.M.A.R.T goals will help you to uncover precisely what is needed to achieve your goals. It will help you to put the coordinates into your life so that you drive to exactly where you need to go. Imagine if we always jumped into the car to go to a new location and never put in any information to the GPS?

We may end up in China!

The same thing happens in life and when you set goals.

Without the right information or directions, we could end up somewhere far, far away from where we had originally planned.
